Star Health Gain insurance is a perfect health insurance which offers both inpatient and outpatient hospitalization expenses at lower premium. This policy means a perfect balance between insurance and tax benefit.

The key feature is that flat amount of Rs.14725/- only irrespective of the sum insured or age of the persons or number of persons covered.

The policy covers in-patient hospitalization expenses for more than 24 hours of hospitalization. It includes room rent and boarding expenses up to 2% of the sum insured, subject to a maximum of Rs.4000/- per day (Class A cities), 1% of the sum insured, subject to a maximum of Rs.3000/- per day (Class B cities), 1% of the sum insured, subject to a maximum of Rs.1000/- per day (Other locations).

It also covers nursing expenses, surgeon fees, consultant fees, anesthetists fees, cost of medicines and drugs, blood, oxygen, diagnostic expenses, pacemaker, etc.

The pre-hospitalization expenses are covered up to 30 days and post hospitalization expenses are calculated at 7% of the hospitalization expenses, subject to a maximum of Rs.5000/-. The emergency ambulance cahrges are covered up to Rs.750/-, subject to a maximum of Rs.5000/-.

The policy is available for any individual aged between 5 months and 60 years. The policy can cover maximum of 2 adults and 3 children. The sum insured ranges are Rs.1Lakh, Rs.2Lakh, Rs.3Lakh, Rs.4Lakh and Rs.5Lakh. The premium paid is eligible for tax benefit under section 80D of the Income Tax Act,1961.
